1. the college has considered itself nonsectarian for many years
2. the spokesman for the Archdiocese of New York, Joseph Zwilling, said the archdiocese had taken no action against Marymount Manhattan
The only "stripping" has been by the Cardinal Newman Society, which also recently targeted Georgetown University for protest because it gave an award to Colin Powell.
